OffGridSage publishes practical, accurate and useful information about off-grid living and self-reliance. This page explains who creates our content, how it is researched and checked, and the standards every guide must meet.
Who creates our content
All guides on OffGridSage are written or edited by Marcus Reid, founder and editor of the site, who is responsible for every article we publish.
Research and accuracy standards
- Reliable sources. Statistics, safety guidance, legal requirements and technical figures come from official or expert sources such as NREL and the U.S. Department of Energy, the EPA, the CDC, the USDA and university cooperative extension services, or from manufacturer documentation.
- Verifiable calculations. Sizing and load calculations are shown step by step so readers can check them.
- Current prices and specifications. Prices and specifications are checked at the time of writing and updated when they change significantly. Prices are always approximate.
- Transparent product guides. Gear comparisons are based on published specifications, warranties, price and long-term owner feedback. We do not claim hands-on testing unless it actually took place, and we say so clearly in the article.
- Safety first. For electrical, gas, structural and water-safety topics we refer readers to local codes and licensed professionals.
Affiliate links and advertising

Our editorial decisions are independent of these relationships: we do not accept payment to feature, rank or review a product favorably, and affiliate links are always disclosed.
